Locker nodes

The locker is already here. Use one box.

Street and building parcel lockers are a distributed footprint with power, a lock, and a permitted place to stand. Arete puts a GPU in one compartment and sells that capacity as a managed AI server.

Open a door

Eleven parcels. One server.

This is a working sketch of a cabinet face. Pick a door. Only L07 is compute.

Managed AI server

This one compartment is the node. Arete owns the module, the workload, and the thermal isolation. The other eleven doors are still parcels.

How a bay is allowed to exist

  1. 01

    The cabinet stays

Same pitch, same parcel operation, same address. We are not asking a city for a new shed.

  2. 02

    One door changes job

A single bay is refit as a sealed compute compartment. The module is ours.

  3. 03

    Heat stays in that bay

Coolant and exhaust are designed so neighbouring parcels are not the heat sink.

  4. 04

Workloads stay off the locker network

Segregated connectivity. No parcel data, payment data, or customer parcels on the GPU.

Locker operators

You keep the locker.

We agree a compartment, a power feed, and access. Commercial terms are surveyed and written down. This is a site agreement, not a product you buy in the hope it pays for itself.

Compute customers

Capacity, already in the city.

Jobs land on nodes we operate. You are buying managed GPU time on UK sites, not a locker and not a hotel’s guest network.

Locker questions

Does the locker stop being a locker?

No. The cabinet stays in place and keeps doing parcel work. One compartment is reserved as a managed compute bay. The other doors are unchanged.

Will parcels get hot?

No. The compute module is a sealed bay with its own heat rejection, separated from parcel compartments. Thermal isolation is part of the install, not an afterthought.

Who is the customer for the compute?

Arete sells the GPU capacity. Locker operators provide a compartment, power, and access under a site agreement. They are not sold a share of the workload.

Why a locker, not a data hall?

The locker is already permitted, already powered, and already on the street or in the building. The footprint exists. We use one box of it.
